The Stars of the Desert Below and Above

In November 2011, I flew from Salzburg, Austria to Palm Springs CA in the USA  on my first ever transatlantic flight. As the plane approached my destination, I was astounded by the sea of  stars glinting above me as I looked down onto what seemed their reflections in the vast expanse of desert below. But the reflections were merely echoes of the lights in the city of Palm Springs extending a twinkling welcome to me as we neared the little airport nestling on the edge of the city. I had been driven by the powers of love and curiosity and will to let go of something inside me which I cannot put into words. I had been afraid but despite the beating of my excited heart, the view ahead left me with a warm feeling of calmness.  My first step as I left the airport, the first warm breeze from the wafting palm trees and the electricity I felt from the hand that led me through those doors, were the greatest charge I could have ever imagined...

Now, 7 months later and an extended visit behind and before me has led me to the next point of artistic and creative exploration: The Powers of the Desert.

I will use this blog as a recording of my artistic activities here in Palm Springs. Specifically the solar and wind energies and the flora, fauna and water issues. Like the desert it is vast and probably unfathomable but here I hope to harness a little of this power and capture this energy via words, photography and painting. You are welcome to accompany me on this next step of my voyage in the Coachella Valley, California.
